The Frankston 'Cambur' Blues have signed former West Virginia University Captain Chaz Briggs for the 2010 SEABL Season.
Briggs, a former SEABL All Star with Mildura in 2006, has just recently finished his season in Thailand and is expected to join the Blues in Mid-February. Briggs will team up in the front court for the Blues with fellow import Rob Kampman and the 300 plus games veteran and Blues Captain Grant Dennis.
Chaz has traveled the world with basketball, having played n Holland, Turkey, Luxembourg, Thailand and Australia previously.
Blues Head Coach Bill Runchey said, "Chaz is a proven competitor in the SEABL...he gave us all we could handle back in '06 when we played Mildura both up there and here at Frankston. I think Chaz will provide great defence, outstanding effort on the boards, and he is also a highly efficient scorer. He led the NCAA Division 1 in field goal percentage whilst at West Virginia."
Sound like someone we know? Chaz has big shoes to fill following the decision by League MVP David Gruber to have this season off from SEABL competition after his commitments to the Wollongong Hawks in the NBL finish in March.
The Blues will have a pre-season hit-out against the Bendigo Braves on Saturday, February 13th at 7:00 pm at Frankston. This will be followed up by another game the next day v. Kilsyth, game time 1:00 pm. Full Schedule for Tournament at Frankston below:
